Back in 1991, the California Lottery ran a radio commercial that engaged listeners by including the amount of the current prize winnings for that week’s lottery. “Tonight’s California Lottery is up to 63 million dollars. Why don’t you take a moment to think about what you would do with 63 million dollars…” the announcer said before trailing off to some nice, somewhat quiet, instrumental melody. The tune continued as slightly hushed background music for what seemed like a minute or two, but was probably only 30 seconds. Regardless of length, it was long enough for my mind…
The Incredible Hulk was the first superhero that I personally related to emotionally. You can probably thank Bill Bixby for that (but props to Lou Ferrigno, as well). It wasn’t exactly the comic book Hulk that appeared in the live-action television series; however, it could be the changes they made for the television show that made the Hulk more real and likable to a ten-year-old girl. First of all, they changed his name from Bruce Banner to David Bruce Banner (he went by David). I don’t see why that change was needed, but okay. Secondly…
If you ask West Coast residents why they love L.A., you might actually find out that a lot of people don’t. There are also many folks I know that don’t just “not love” L.A., they detest it. To this day, I have never found anyone that loves Los Angeles more than me. I truly began calling L.A. the real love…
My co-workers recently saw “Happy Death Day;” and, I must say, I was more than pleasantly surprised. Okay, the truth is that the minute I saw the preview, I couldn’t help but anticipate its release. I shared the synopsis and the trailer with everyone I could think of. There was something special about it. I guess it gave me such a jolt because the premise was new for a horror movie in the slasher sub-genre (my favorite of the horror films). Finally! A co-ed wakes up the morning of her birthday only to…
Wouldn’t it be great if we could wear a different costume every day? Certainly some days I wake up and feel like I would enjoy being a princess for the day, or a super hero or even a 60s go-go dancer. I am completely confident that it would make dull days a lot glitterier (who knew that was even a word). And, who doesn’t need a little more sparkle in an otherwise ordinary day? Can you imagine how excited you might be to see your co-worker, the convenient store clerk or your Starbuck’s…
