50 Things I Want to Try, Accomplish or Just Get Finished!
Challenge #50 – Start the Page
This is really the first challenge, but so that I can keep track of the various challenges matching the week we are in, we’ll just count them down in the same way. Challenge #50 was to just get this webpage started – and whew! I’ve learned so much in just this week, but I know this will adapt as I go. Being a perfectionist, I won’t stop until the colors, the fonts, the size of the boxes are exactly what I want. Good news – none of you can see this yet. But, challenge #50 – Status: Complete.
Challenge #49 – Get it Together
I have a few ideas for different tasks that I will challenge myself to get finished before I turn 50. Some of them will be things to learn, some will be new experiences and some will just be random things that I want completed (that probably should have done a long time ago) so I can start fresh when I turn 50, like decluttering. But, the first step is to be ready for the next challenges, so I have to get myself organized. I know it’s May, but I still haven’t gotten my calendar book filled in with the stuff I already know is happening this year. So that is the challenge for this week…and go! Status: Complete.
Challenge #48 – Reuse and Rejoice
Going through the numerous boxes in the closet, I found that my mom bought a lot of postcards. A single card from each place might have been okay, but multiples of the same postcard and several others from the exact same city seems excessive – especially when you didn’t plan to mail them. But, I don’t want to just throw them in the recycle bin, so I found a purpose. One thing my mom always did was send cards (birthday, anniversary, thank you…heck, any occasion or no occasion…just to say “hi”). So, if I have your birthday and your address, you will get a “happy birthday” postcard in the next year (gonna extend this through just 48 weeks, because I don’t want to miss anyone) or if I feel like it, you might get a postcard that just says, “I’m thinking about you” – enjoy! Status: Failing…but it’s never too late. I promised I would do this for a year and I need to get it going soon. If you didn’t get a postcard this year, I guess it means you can expect one for your next birthday!
Challenge #47 – Fancy This
I am a sucker for pretty dresses. I don’t get to wear them that often, but I do love the fun of getting all dolled up and feeling like Cinderella. Explains why I have been Cinderella for multiple Halloweens (and not just as a kid). Besides my grandmother’s dresses from television, my mom’s dresses from college, lovely dresses that I “had to have” despite I still haven’t had an occasion to wear them, and those I’ve worn to weddings in the last decade – I also still have multiple prom dresses. My senior prom dress was cut short for a “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” Halloween costume a few years ago, but the rest are still in wearable condition, if I happen to be invited to a last minute soiree. However, I want them all stored in the same closet (out of my bedroom) and I’ve been meaning to do this for years. Toss them or put them together. That is something I should be able to get done quickly – certainly before next week’s challenge. Status: Complete.
Challenge #46 – Fancy That
Yes, I’m excessively orderly – I know! My cousin Lauren just told me yesterday that I’m the most organized person she knows and I do take it too far. But, it gives me peace to have everything systematized and coordinated. I can find anything I need in a jiffy, because I know just where to look for it. One thing I haven’t gotten done in the perfect composition of my closet and that I have wanted to do for a long, long, long time (and make fun if you will), is to put photos on the outside of my clear plastic shoe boxes so that I know which shoes are in which box at a glance. I have some good pairs and I would like to not forget about them, even if I have not worn them in a while. Since last week was the dresses, this week the challenge will be for the shoes. Let the photos begin. Status: In Progress.
Challenge #45 – Ciao Bella!
I had a young grad-student teacher in college that I had a massive crush on. Before holiday break, he looked me straight in the eye with his hand on my shoulder and said “Ciao Bella”. If I didn’t want to learn Italian before that day, I certainly made it a priority then (even though he told me what it meant). In the years that followed, I bought the cassette tapes (yes, this was a long time ago) and the Rosetta Stone program (more recent) – I have the tools, I just need to do it. Or, as they say in Italian, “Vai Avanti, Fallo!” Status: Pending.
Challenge #44 – And the Oscar goes to…
Yes, I have seen a lot of movies. But, I will be honest in reporting that I haven’t seen all the Academy Award winning Best Picture winners (gasp!). I am ashamed of myself but I won’t pressure myself too much though, because I may have seen more than I realize. For this challenge, I will start by planning to watch at least five that I don’t “think” I have seen before. But, if I have seen them (and just don’t remember until I’m watching them again, which happens a lot actually) then they will not count. I can certainly find five I haven’t seen in the list of about 90 films, even if I end up re-watching some for a 2nd or 3rd time as a bonus. Status: Pending.
Challenge #43 – If You Build It
Those Home Depot workshops always seemed cool. Like, wouldn’t it be amazing if I knew how to install a tile backsplash? Not that I’m going to ever need to install a tile backsplash, but just knowing I could do it would be accolades enough. And, there are so may different workshops that I am bound to find one I like in the next 43 weeks. Plus they are free. Time spent learning something new – a win all the way around. Status: Pending.
Challenge #42 – Ice, Ice, Baby
I have told the story many times of how my mom told me that I couldn’t be both an actress and an figure skater when I was younger because skaters had to get up early and practice every morning, and actresses had to have rehearsals every evening. Put school in the middle and that would just be too much. So, I chose the life of the theater and taught myself to skate on the occasional weekend (or transitioned my excellent roller skating in the basement/garage skills to the ice). I had the skates (thanks Gigi) and the outfit (thanks mom & dad), but I never took a lesson. I think the time is this year. A long awaited challenge will finally come to pass. Status: Pending.
Challenge #41 – It’s About Time, Beatty
My favorite movie of all time is “Heaven Can Wait” (1978). The summer of 1979 (I think), I was in Hawaii with my parents and it was playing repetitively on the hotel’s paid movie channel. If you paid once, you could watch it all day. I didn’t want to leave the room, even though we were in Hawaii. Of course, that was the days before cable or VCRs, so I was worried I’d never see it again – and to me, that was a tragedy. I’ve lost track on how many times I’ve seen it since, but it never gets old and I tear up at the end, every time. All these years later, I still remind myself that one day, I am going to write Warren Beatty and just tell him “thanks” for making the movie. Status: Complete! (and it wasn’t a letter, it was in person – wow – see “I Love LA” post)
Challenge #40 – Just Do It
We all have those projects that we’ll get to “some day”. In fact, I have a hanging shoe caddy in the guest room closet filled with mini things that need attention. A hanging beaded sun-catcher from the kitchen window that broke, a bracelet that need to be restrung, a bunch of old credit cards that need to be cut up and sent to that place that recycles them (didn’t know about that, did you?). By the time I turn 50, I plan to have that caddy empty and all tasks completed. I will find the time. Status: In Progress.
Challenge #39 – Back to the Island
Probably the easiest of the tasks, I probably shouldn’t even call it a challenge; but, I plan to go to Winterfest at Kings Island this year, even if I have to end up going by myself after work one night. No one said that all these challenges had to be difficult or time consuming, so it fits. See you this holiday season KI. Status: Complete.
Challenge #38 – Challenge Challenge
My cousin Christy (my first actual friend and my favorite writer) also turned 49 this year – this week actually. In honor of all the times we had to sit back-to-back while opening gifts, I provide a back-to-back challenge for her. Just as I will be coming up with a weekly challenge, I hope that she will accept the challenge of coming up with her own 50 weekly challenges, alongside of me (so I guess it’s really a side-to-side challenge). Her own #50WeeksTo50, if you will. She doesn’t need to start for two weeks (her 50 weeks will start August 1st), so there is no rush to get started. And, I don’t even care if she copies some of mine. But, meeting her cousin for a girls weekend, should definitely be on her list. Status: My part – Complete…Christy? (She Accepted!)
Challenge #37 – LP to MP (AKA: Hit the Road, Jack)
Several years ago, I decided to transfer all my music to digital, which was a long process of sorting through 45s, albums and cassette tapes to pull the “important” songs (5 days worth of songs in iPod lingo), so I could take them with me to work, in my car, while traveling. Well, once my comprehensive project was complete, the borrowed stereo receiver returned and the albums all put away, I realized that somewhere along the way, I forgot to transfer, “All I Need” by Jack Wagner. Yeah, I know…just leave it. Well, I am sure that I could have found a copy somewhere on the internet, but I also have this thing about following the rules, so I didn’t want to get it illegally. Well, Happy Amazon Prime day to me! This year, I purchased a turntable that could transfer records to digital files and burn them onto a flash drive all in one easy step (no wires, no computer programs, no formatting) – as easy as hitting “record” when the song is playing. Finally I can get Jack Wagner in mp3 form. Status: Complete.
Challenge #36 – I need this because…?
When you travel and have to constantly pack and unpack your bag at different locations, you realize the small amount of make-up/bathroom items you actually need on a daily basis. I’m not saying that silver disco eyeshadow, the 20-year-old backup hot roller set or the travel shoe shine pad aren’t valuable items – I’m just saying, maybe I can let go of a few things. My challenge is to pare down what I “think” are daily needed vanity items to ones that maybe are at least a once every year needed items. If I don’t need them at least once this year, I think I can let them go. (Exception – the magical red lipstick I bought in 1989, just in case I can ever match it exactly – no luck so far) Status: Complete.
Challenge #35 – Keeping Old Friends Close
I try to remind myself to get in touch with old friends and meet for lunch, have a nice long chat on the phone (okay maybe not) or write them a nice personal heartfelt letter. It doesn’t always happen. I was faced with that this week as I received a note in the mail about one of my old roommates that is turning 50 soon. Send a note, card, memory, photo… It made me realize that I had not talked to this old friend in years. Why do we forget so often to keep in touch? I can’t be sure I’ll get them all, but there are a handful of people that immediately come to mind that I need to reach out to, before my challenges have ended. I will be more disappointed in not meeting this challenge than any other, so I hope it will be a priority. Status: Pending.
Challenge #34 – “Are These Like Your Rollers?” “I Wish”
It’s a joke between my friends because I am the only person they know that uses hot rollers everyday. If you are a close friend of mine, chances are you have seen me with my hair wrapped in hot rollers. As much as I love them they do cause some issues. The clips wear out, the cases don’t travel well, and I wish I had one set that had every size I wanted. Well, this year I will fix all those issues. This is a three part challenge: 1. Take a pliers to all the clips I have and tighten them. 2. Find a set to travel with that won’t crack in the suitcase. 3. Order that upright set that Todd has at his salon for myself. I should have done this before. Status: 1 (complete), 2 (complete), 3 (complete).
Challenge #33 – Craft Time
Everyone knows I love crafts. The problem is finding time to do the ones I want to do for myself, after I spend a lot of time doing work crafts. So, I am going to make this one simple for now. I have a single fall project that I want to complete before Thanksgiving, that I wanted to get finished last year and never got around to starting. I have all the pieces and even brought little mini real pinecones back from Canada just for the project. Status: Pending.
Challenge #32 – The Trees Are Out
For what seems many years, I have happened to be at Macy’s on Labor Day. I guess I don’t have too many Labor Day plans or I really like to shop on that particular holiday? Anyway, Labor Day is when Macy’s Thanks for Sharing event happens (you get money back for all the money you spend between now and the holidays, if you join); and, more importantly, the Christmas trees are out. Sure it’s early, but I love Christmas lights so much, I’ll take the decor even if it’s still 90 degrees outside. So, in honor of the trees, I will post my first holiday challenge. Kari and I have been trying to go to the Lebanon Carriage Parade & Festival for years, but it’s never worked out. This year it’s on December 2nd and I’m putting it on my calendar now. Let’s try to get this completed! Status: Complete (although it ended up being for work, but that still counts).
Challenge #31 – Is It As Easy As Pie?
Never made a pie. Don’t love all pies, but this is the time of year when the pumpkin pie returns to Frisch’s so it reminds me of the pies I do like – namely pumpkin and blueberry. I recently saw a cool video on Facebook on how to make pie crusts with all these fancy patterns. Hey, I could do that. I think I will try to make a pie (probably with a store bought crust, come on, I don’t have THAT much free time). Not sure what kind, but it’s something I’ve never done, so I’m open. Status: Pending.
Challenge #30 – Say Cheese
I never realized how many photos my parents had until I started going through them. I knew there were a lot, but as I look at them now, they are a bit overwhelming. The good news is that my mom was a great organizer of photos. Some are in albums (you know those ones with the sticky plastic pages), some are in labeled boxes and some are rubber-banded together with a post-it note listing the event, place or year. My minuscule amount of photos, compared to theirs, are not nearly as organized. But, I can get them that way. I have an album with Halloween decor for all those photos, one in stars & stripes motif for July 4th photos, reindeer design for holiday ones and a variety of smaller albums to fill with various events. I just need one good rainy day and I’ll be set. Status: In Progress.
Challenge #29 – Give It Away Now
I was in a really good groove of making a monthly trip to drop off stuff I didn’t need anymore and then I guess I got busy with life and the boxes started piling up instead of making it to my car. I want to get back in the habit. Even if it’s a small box of clothes from the basement or the collection of hotel shampoos/soaps that made their way home with me, I need to get the stuff moving to those that need it a little faster. So what if the box isn’t full yet, I’ll have another box next month anyway. I know I can do this, because I was really good at doing this for a while. Status: In Progress.
Challenge #28 – The Little Red Hen
Remember that story where the little red hen wanted to bake the bread, but none of the other animals would help? None of the animals wanted to spend their time doing the work that lead to enjoying the bread. Well, I love to bake and have no problem following any recipes; but, I would like to improve my improv cooking skills, so I can get a little more joy over what I’ve created. I’ve started researching those little one-off cooking classes they offer. I’ll start with one and see how it goes. Just need to pick a topic that interests me. Status: Complete.
Challenge #27 – Ebony & Ivory
Last week my dad and I went to the Pops/Music Hall re-opening. The way the music of John Williams sounded, echoing through the place, it reminded me what a gift it is to read music. That is…if you put it to use. It has been too long since I’ve played the piano. I need to at least make time in the next six months to play a few times. Just a few times is better than not at all, which is how much I played last year. Status: Complete.
Challenge #26 – Didn’t Know This Was a Challenge, Challenge
So, I found a prop skeleton at Target and put it in the front passenger seat of my SUV to celebrate Halloween. Thought it might bring some smiles to those that pass me on the road or are stopped next to me at a red light. I call him Mr. Bone-jangles. I never imagined just how much people would enjoy it. In fact, they say “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” well, I was copied by someone I don’t know, a few weeks in. I didn’t see the other person, but the guy at McDonalds told me. I have found a new holiday tradition – and that’s a cool challenge. See you next year Mr. Bone-jangles. I think you will be around for years to come. Status: Complete.
Challenge #25 – Change it Up!
I decided, based on my past posts, that I want to try to not always rely on what I love. Maybe I don’t have to dress up for Halloween in a costume of something I would like to be and maybe I don’t have to carve my pumpkin with the same triangle eyes/nose, mischievous smile and eyebrows. This year, I will do something different. Status: Complete (I dressed up in a Medusa theme and used a drill to make a designer jack-o-lantern).
Challenge #24 – I Didn’t Know That
I was watching some workmen do something to a fire hydrant this morning. Not sure what they were doing, what piece they were working on or what tools they were using. It got me thinking about how much we don’t know. So, this challenge and #25 will go together to increase what I know in two very simple ways. First off: Learn a new word every week until I’m 50. That will give me 25-26 new words that could become part of my vocabulary. I know there are “word of the day” websites and blogs, so this should be fairly simple. Status: In Progress.
Challenge #23 – I Didn’t Know That, Either!
To go along with learning a new word every week, I am also going to learn a new fact. Something that may or may not be important to the universe as a whole, but something that I think is good for me to know. I’m not just going to pick any old fact. It has to be something worthwhile like how to identify the leaves of poison sumac – something I might not need today, but overall, a good thing to know. Status: In Progress.
Challenge #22 – Movies of the Year
Usually I jump right from scary thrillers to heartwarming holiday tales with my decor; but, this year, I will try to give Thanksgiving its due. It nothing more than to please my co-worker Richard, who I believe thinks Thanksgiving gets a bad wrap. I will start by displaying the movie poster to “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” in my office movie poster frame (won’t go from “Scream 4” to “Love Actually”). Status: Complete.
Challenge #21 – Gift Cards Galore
I think I am going to try to see the least amount of money I can spend over the holidays by finally using up all the gift cards that I’ve collected – some are left over from last year’s holiday loot and I hate they are going to waste. It’s time to fill that tank with the Shell gift card or see what I can buy at Walgreens (come on, there is always something to buy at Walgreens). Status: Complete.
Challenge #20 – Marky Mark-er
So, I love markers. For real. Like, I have no fewer than six sets of varying tip size with at least 20 colors each; and, that doesn’t include my highlighters, colored pens or Sharpies. I need to go through them and ditch the ones that are dried or drying out. I guarantee I will not miss them. If they are dried out, I haven’t used them in a while anyway. Status: Complete.
Challenge #19 – Dang You Hallmark
Every year it happens, the jack-o-lanterns aren’t even put away when the Hallmark Channel starts their “Countdown to Christmas.” They snag me every year. It’s unavoidable. I was going to give myself a doable goal to watch one new (new to me) Hallmark Christmas movie a week or about 10-11 total; but, since I’m already 15 in and it’s just Thanksgiving, I guess I will at least make it worth a challenge and say I’ll watch 31 new movies (one for each day of December). Status: Complete.
Challenge #18 – Movie List
Yes, I keep a list of all my Blu-rays, DVDs, VHS & Beta tapes. Yes, it’s alphabetical and yes, it’s categorized by format; as well as, movie, television series and other. And, finally – yes, all of them are displayed in alphabetical order and in their own category in the movie room. Recently, I’ve been a little indolent in making sure my list was updated. I have let some friends borrow movies, I have given some away and I have replaced them with a newer format, so I need to update my list. Status: Complete…and who borrowed “21”?
Challenge #17 – Find a Friend
Though the years, I’ve thought a lot about some particular old friends. When I have a tiny moment of downtime, I might quickly Google their name or briefly search social media for an inkling of what they might be doing now. Haven’t had much luck. Years pass and maybe I’ll try again. I can’t find everyone, but I’m going to do a better job of making time to try. I’d like to reconnect with at least one old BFF that I haven’t been able to find yet. Status: Complete.
Challenge #16 – Settle on a Color
Moving into a new home brings on several challenges on its own; and, although this was unexpected, I know it will be lots of fun. Step one is deciding what color scheme you want to go with in each room. Since my bedroom is my haven, I can’t take this decision lightly. I need to choose wisely. Status: Complete! (Zydeco)
Challenge #15 – Move It Over
So, I moved offices in the fall but didn’t move everything over from the old one (which is only a few steps away) because I was getting a new desk and thought I’d wait a beat. The desk is now here, but I have too much work at the moment to worry about bringing over my old swag and collectibles. However, I don’t want to put it off too much longer. Now it’s a challenge, so I’ve set up a deadline. Status: Complete.
Challenge #14 – Playlist List
A few years ago my iPod playlists went away. I don’t know exactly why (probably something I did), but no use crying over spilled milk. I am going to try and recreate my playlists from memory for my newer iPod Touch (since my original iPod is pretty much set as is, the battery must always be plugged in to play). I mean, sometimes you are just in the mood to only hear TV theme songs, right? Status: Pending.
Challenge #13 – 20 Lashes
I have tried false eyelashes, eyelash extensions and would love to check out the magnetic lashes that I’ve recently seen; but, I’ve always wanted to have false eyelashes put on for me (instead of trying to mess with all that glue). Should be easy enough. Status: Pending.
Challenge #12 – …and Mascara Wands
So I came across an organization that takes used mascara brushes and uses them to remove bugs from the fur of rescued wild animals. How wonderful is that? I have at least two mascaras that are about out, so I need to send them along to Wands for Wildlife. I love this! Status: Complete.
Challenge #11 – I Want Candy
If I say I’ve driven by Esther Price Candy on Montgomery Road 100 times, I’m surely coming up very, very short. Having grown up searching for that one or two milk chocolate covered caramels in the mixed boxes my grandmother or parents would get for this occasion or that, I have always wanted to go inside to see if they just sell the caramels (I don’t eat any of the others). Alas, I have never been inside the store. And, what a sweet task this will be to complete. Status: Pending.
Challenge #10 – Coffee Cake Please
Anyone remember the Aunt Jemima Coffee Cake mix? Inside the box was the mix (in a plastic bag) inside of a small one-time use cooking pan. All you needed to do was add milk and eggs into the plastic bag and mix it with your hands before pouring into the pan. Then you would crumble the cinnamon/sugar topping on top. A few minutes in the oven and presto – the yummiest coffee cake in the land. They don’t make it anymore, but someone posted a recipe online that is supposed to be the same. Gotta try that out one day. Status: Complete (and, sadly, it wasn’t the same).
Challenge #9 – The Missing Piece
Years ago, I discovered that my Aunt Nancy had a piece of furniture that was a companion piece to my grandmother’s make-up table. Didn’t seem like anyone in the family (other than probably my grandmother) ever knew it because they were never in the same room; and, one was painted yellow and the other a distressed white with a wooden top. I now have both pieces together again, but the dresser piece had a missing wood embellishment/carved rosette type of thing. I am crafty enough that I should be able to make something to stick on the front of the dresser to replace the piece. Status: Complete (a little craft clay and some off-white nail polish – no one is the wiser).
Challenge #8 – So (Sew), a Needle Pulling Thread
I find that many things were made a lot better before I joined the earth. Case in point: A sort of thin, light green & faded daisy printed, fiber-filled blanket/comforter that I only remember being on my parents bed way, way back in my youth because I’ve seen it in pictures. Let me tell you, that blanket must be one of the warmest blankets in the world! I won’t ever trade up, because I’ve tried and nothing compares. But, it needs some repair. Just a small sewing job to hold some of the fiberfill in the corners and reinforce a few of the seams. After all, I want it to hold up for many more years to come. Status: Not Yet Complete.
Challenge #7 – The Arrested Teddy Bear
Years ago, I heard of this organization that gives stuffed animals to children that suffer trauma (usually through the police or fire departments). What a wonderful thing! Well, as no surprise, my mom had quite a few stuffed animals that were only for display. They are in tip-top condition and I want to donate them to this organization. I have the drop off location and the person in charge. I just need to drive down to the police station. Status: Not Yet Complete.
Challenge #6 – Lights, Camera, Action!
To use as mostly decor, I purchased an old film projector at a school’s fall fundraising event (you know the educational green colored projector, we used in grade school to show movies). Goal is to clean it up and cover the green with black or silver paint. The final touch will be to find a pick-up reel on eBay so I can actually show my 16mm film school movies from so long ago. Status: Not Yet Complete.
Challenge #5 – “Charm”ing
My favorite necklace is one that I kind of made myself. I bought a silver chain (on the long side) that had some sort of metallic pendant figure hanging from it. Step one was to lose the pendant and add charms that were special to me. One by one, I’ve added things with meaning including a seahorse charm given to me by a dear friend, a palm tree to remind me of the tree outside my first LA apartment, a vintage photo charm of Mr. Tod Fox (Beatrix Potter), etc. Well, one of the charms was put on backwards and one was lost (but I have a replacement), so I need to take off the clasp and fix that up. I still wear it in the meantime, but I want it to be perfect. Status: Not Yet Complete.
Challenge #4 – The Bag Lady
If you ever see me in Target picking up a cute character or imprinted (or even plain) gift bag, I give you permission to walk up, rip it out of my hands and scold me like a child. I have so many wrapping materials, there is no doubt that I will never, ever, ever get through all of the gift bags I have, no matter how many gifts I give for the rest of my life. But, I do want to organize them. December holiday ones in the green/red “holiday” box (Hanukkah & Christmas), other holiday ones in the red/white “other holiday” box (Valentine’s, Halloween, etc.) and the generic in the clear plastic “any occasion” box. Might as well organize the tissue paper, wrapping paper, ribbon, etc. while I’m at it. Status: Complete (and let me know if you need any bags).
Challenge #3 – My Favorite Purse
I have this purse that I bought at the Polo outlet down in Florida. The original price of this masterpiece was $2,500. I got it for 10% of the price which for me was still quite pricey. I don’t like to spend a lot on purses because I get tired of them so easily. But not this one. It’s a black and red western themed Ralph Lauren wool bag with leather straps, silver rivets, name buckle and mini bull head. If you didn’t know it was a purse, you might think it was a warm winter blanket used for cozy nights by the fire in your log cabin or used in a Polo ad to hold pieces of wood by the fireplace (you know, for the chat that has everything). Well, one of the rivets was lost about a year ago and apparently the size on the bag is not a size that is readily available for purchase. I had to buy an entire bag which was shipped overseas in about 6 weeks. Now, I just have to take the time to fix it. Considering it’s no longer winter, I have some time but I still have to make the time. Status: Not Yet Complete.
Challenge #2 – The Sweatshirt Rides Again
And speaking of Polo things. I once had a vision of shelves in my closet that held a rainbow of folded sweatshirts. One of each color, ever made, of the original style, single color, one polo pony horse logo, sweatshirt. Those sweatshirts are classic style, stay in fantastic condition (through the washer or dry cleaner), and all-season (great for a cold day with a long sleeve t-shirt or to throw around your shoulders during a cool summer evening at the beach…just in case). Well, through the 80s and 90s and 00s, I bought a lot of them. At least five in the green family alone (dark seafoam green, dusty teal, neonish green, hunter and kelly). Thing is – I don’t wear them all anymore. Second thing is – it makes me sad to let them go. Whether I donate them, sell them on eBay or just start leaving them at friend’s houses when I visit, it’s easier said than done, but I need to give up the dream. I’ll still have plenty with the ones I decide to keep. Status: Not Yet Complete.
